descubrimiento. Aun hoy, esa sensación me encanta.
o conexiones, he intentado aplicarles un razonamiento lógico, pero me he dado
Empecé a
fallar.
INTRODUCTION-HISTORY. (english)
Ever since I can remember, even as a small
child, I recall having a great fascination when I understood the connection of
things I had initially not related, it was a great discovery each time. I love
that sensation even today. It´s as if I were looking at a map, tracing the
roads and ways between houses or towns and finding places in between I didn´t
know existed. Realizing, possibly, that two places are actually very close even
though different roads lead to them.
I found it very stimulating to learn how
one thing is directly related to the next and how we are part of this much
larger network. Coincidences fail to be just that, and end up being indicators
on the road of decision-making.
Through this, I also realize, as a human being, I am not free to do as I
like even if I am under that impression. I can do, undo and take decisions, but
always being part of the larger map, always in relation to all the rest of the
elements of my surrounding. Affecting and being affected by them.
Over the years, I have always tried to consider these magical moments of
possible coincidences or connections in a more rational or logical way, and
even if in some dimension it made sense, I realised that how I learnt most from
them was by not using my mind, leaving the meaning open to interpretation,
unresolved. This way it´s most relevant, teaching me a kind of humbleness. When
just rationalising it, I´m kill it.
I then became very interested in practices
that help develop the expression of the subconscious. I found a language for it
in my painting technique. Identifying elements that come from random shapes and
then finding a relationship between them.
It´s the ability to find these connections
that I was interested in. It´s the way I found creativity could be kept alive
consciously without me getting in the way of it´s development.
This idea of everything being connected to
everything fundamentally comes from living in and observing nature and our environment,
that is the greatest example, evidently.
So, though finding a certain sense in the
connection of random elements our range of possibilities becomes vast to the
extent that anything is possible, loosing the fear of the unknown, because even
mistakes are valuable and useful. It takes a lot of practice and will, but
above all, one has to believe that nonsense really makes a lot of sense. Many exercises
can be done for this. We can learn to play like children again without the fear
of failing.
