LA INSTALACIÓN EL LABERINTO TELARAÑA. Austria. Octubre 2016.
Esta
instalación la he construido para jugar en ella, aprendiendo, como los niños.
Ha sido
tan importante el proceso de construcción como el producto físico final.
He
contado con la colaboración de Jason Roig para ayudarme a enroscar 1620 hojas
de periódicos en forma de churros que luego he unido en cinta transparente
Durante
su construcción, tarea extremadamente mecánica y repetitiva, tuve la
experiencia de cómo se me intrometía mi mente impaciente, queriendo tomar decisiones
y razonar innecesariamente. Tuve que acallarla y seguir conectando tramos sin
más, pero rápidamente volvía al ataque para intentar convencerme de que de esta
manera o la otra sería mejor o más bonito, pero la verdad es que era una tarea
en la que no necesitaba mi mente para nada.
THE SPIDERWEB LABYRINTH INSTALLATION.

I built a space to play in, to learn though
play, just like children.
It´s a space where the process of making it
was just as relevant as the final physical result. I was helped by Jason Roig
to screw 1620 newspaper pages into long shapes. I then connected them with
transparent celo tape.
During the very mechanical and repetitive
process, I experienced my impatient mind wanting to take over and take
“decisions” for a “reason”, in an extremely unnecessary job. I had to keep
telling it to shut up and just let me connect wherever to wherever, but then it
would creep back and try to convince me that if I did it this way or that way
it would look nicer or better. I was doing a job where I really didn´t need my
mind AT ALL.
Este
espacio representa dos símbolos muy importantes para mi: el laberinto y la tela de araña. El Laberinto es el espacio por el que me muevo en la vida, el mapa.
La tela de araña representa las
conexiones que voy creando en este espacio dándome la posibilidad de cambiar su
forma y a su vez el significado del todo, con cada decisión que tomo.
Comprendiendo que incluso las decisiones erróneas, pueden llevar a la correcta,
trazando una forma distinta y así una enseñanza diferente, acorde, con ella.
Al
situarse uno en el Laberinto y trazar
las conexiones entre los diferentes elementos, uno se puede encontrar en una de
las más potentes prácticas en mi opinión: definir el centro de gravedad de uno
mismo.
Esta es
una tarea normalmente muy difícil dada la cantidad de yoes que nos forman, y
cada uno quiere una cosa diferente. Cuando uno es capaz de conectar cualquier
cosa con otra, a través de esta práctica uno puede también ejercitar el tendido
de puentes de comunicación interior,
unificando las fuerzas en un centro de gravedad.
This space offers a representation of two
very important symbols for me: the labyrinth and the spider web. The labyrinth
being the space in which I move though in life, the map. And the spider web is
the connections I make in this space, giving me the ability to change its shape
and meaning as a whole, constantly, with every decision I make. With an
understanding that even by taking “wrong” decisions, one can be reaching the
right one, just tracing a different shape that will result in yet again a
different teaching aligned to it.
Through the practice of placing ones´ self
in the labyrinth and tracing the connecting lines from one element to the
other, one can reach the most important experience in my opinion: finding one´s
centre of gravity. This is usually very difficult to accomplish due to the
various I´s that inhabit us, but when one is able to connect everything to
everything, it is also possible to have a greater communication in between them
and then the centre of gravity in one is more potent.
Este
espacio representa una experiencia muy personal. Mediante sus materiales
austeros y estética simple, creo que será posible que cada persona pueda tener
una experiencia o lectura personal de ello. Ofrezco varios ejemplos de juegos
que se pueden hacer en él que se podrán experimentar en mi próxima exposición
en el Club Diario de Ibiza en primavera.
This space represents a very personal
experience, but due to its very basic materials and bold aesthetics I think it
will possible for each person to have a different reading or experience with
it. I offer various “games” to be played in it, but it isn´t necessary.
These will be offered in my next exhibition
in Club Diario de Ibiza next spring.
